2. Umananda Island
This Island is a religious addition to the travel bucket list of Assam. Also named as Peacock Island by the British, this has gained popularity because of its presence in between the river Brahmaputra and can be easily connected when you are in Guwahati. Umananda Island is also known as one of the smallest Islands of the world and comprise of Umananda temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
The old form of rock-cut figures of Lord Surya, Ganesh and Shiva allows anyone to appreciate the beauty and skills of craftsmanship of Assamese people who showed their dedication towards spiritual energy. 4. Jorhat
This place is famously called the ‘tea capital of India’, Jorhat, popularly known as the tea capital of India for its tea plantations spread across a wide land area. Apart from this, it is also known for its cultural heredity, mosques, gardens, tombs and artistic value that it depicts towards its visitors. Jorhat is famous for its culture, gardens, mosques, tombs, and tea plantations. Jorhat is the second-largest city in Assam. Major tourist attractions of Jorhat include Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar, Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary, Raja Maidam, and Thengal Bhawan. Believe it or not, there are 135 tea gardens in Jorhat.
5. Dibru Saikhowa National Park
Though Assam is famous for its national parks altogether, this one is special for its highly adorable collection of ‘flora and fauna’ which are mostly counted amongst endangered species’ list. 8. Kamakhya Temple
For all the devotees of Hindu religion’s mother goddess Kamakhya, this place holds emotions which are quite engaging in portraying the love of her blessings. It is situated in the west of Guwahati (the capital city), in the Nilachal hill and attracts many pilgrimage tourisms round the year.

9. Kakochang Waterfalls
A half an hour drive towards East from Kaziranga National park will make anyone go awestruck with the beauty channelized in the form of Kakochang waterfall. You can feel the drops sprinkling on your face and freshness in the air while anywhere around this fall.

14. Hajo
Hajo has situated at the banks of river Brahmaputra. Since, shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, Vishnu, Durga, Buddha, and Muslim saints are found in Hajo, which makes the place an important pilgrimage center for Hindus, Muslims, and Buddhists. The most famous temple is the Hayagriva Madhava Mandir, it is believed to be the site where Buddha attained Nirvana.
15. Tezpur
Another city that is on the edges of river Brahmaputra and is a neighbor of Guwahati by the distance of 175 km, is the city Tezpur. Tezpur has a history with mythology but the actual ruins of medieval age could be seen in Bamuni hills. Modern Tezpur has a connectivity with the British era and composes of a subtle calm climate.
